"Hanging Out With Jesus" - Jewell Utt

On June 25th, I’m joining Lyvita Brooks on her Podcast Hanging Out with Jesus. Together we will discuss how to invigorate your devotional time. Based on my recent book, Consider the Birds – Reflections to Make You Soar, we’ll talk about how the beauty of nature organically causes you to slow down and reflect. You’ll learn practical steps to order and revitalize your spiritual time using 2 Corinthians 4:18.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

In the following clip, I am reading an excerpt from my book sharing how I made a connection with the birds. Matthew 6:26 says, Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?

    PODCAST Clip:

We are living with the greatest divide I have ever seen. Civil unrest bursts forth as people have taken up sides spiritually, politically, racially and physically. In a ferocious election year, with a global shut-down due to Covid-19, our nerves are raw. Brutality takes center stage, while balance and wisdom cower in the corner. What are we to do?

Fix our eyes on the author and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12:2 One way to keep grounded is by devoting time to reflect on God’s Word.

The raucous climate we find ourselves in speaks loudly about the self-serving tactics of man. As believers, we are called to more. To see sin for what it is – an assault on God. This unrest is primarily due to the motivation of man to be independent of his Creator, wielding for himself money, power and notoriety.

For everything in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16

Our peace and security come from “things unseen.” For this, we remain focused on one purpose. We have a destination worth bragging about and our purpose is to tell others about it, so they too can escape the unrest.

Whatever your personality, God has placed a temperament and skill in your wheelhouse, to display forth His goodness in times of trouble. It’s during hard times that true character prevails. Instead of panic, people see peace. Instead of despair, people see joy. How you portray those qualities to the world is your mission. Today calls for encouragement. Today calls for positive thinkers and truth seekers.

If you are uncertain that you were created by God, and that He seeks a relationship with you, spend some time in prayer and ask God to save you from this mess. God not only offers us a way out; He gives us a mission in order to keep our minds focused on the end goal. God loves His creation and wants you to accept His gift of eternal life. It’s the only true path to peace because the real friction is between man and God.

The way to God is through Christ and by acknowledging our sin.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Are you certain of your destiny?

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21
