How to hear from God
Most times when believers mistake His voice, it has to do with the channel. He may use an unexpected channel or courier to disseminate the message. And if one is not careful, you will see the courier but not the One behind him.
Several years ago, a brother who always sought God’s will, decided to take an accommodation. He met some estate agents who earlier provided him with an accommodation. They were elderly men who appeared quite responsible. So he told them he needed another one urgently. They found one which the landlord said would be ready in three weeks. He paid for it but a month later, nothing had been done.
At last, he paid for five years and supervised the building until it was declared ready after seven months; yet, he could not occupy it. When he looked back, he asked how he could have caused himself so much pain. Then he realized he never asked God if he should take the apartment or not. All he told God was, ‘I am going to see the place. If I am satisfied, I will pay for it’. So he repented and began to seek God’s face concerning another place.
While praying, he went checking different apartments. One day he went to see a very decent apartment. Everything seemed just right. On return, he informed his landlord who was more like a father to him. But as they discussed, his landlord told him he did not know why he felt that way, but he felt he should try a house in a particular area.
Later, he met the manager of a place he once worked, and as they discussed his need, she too suggested he should go to that particular area his landlord had suggested. He began to wonder why every one was making same suggestion. Not long after, an old friend visited him and offered to go with him to that area to search for an apartment. It was then he realized God was the One speaking through these separate individuals.
He obeyed and years later, it was apparent why God wanted him in that location. God still uses people to speak to His children. Are you sensitive to His voice?
