How to rise from failure
Failure is part of our progress and our journey to success, but only some people know how to rise from their downfall.
Sadly, other people would choose to give up or, at worst, end their lives because they could not handle their failures.
While some Christians also feel that God cannot forgive their sins, they tend to drive themselves away from the Lord instead of confessing. Thus, we must know how to rise when we fail.
How to rise from failure
As long as God gives you breath each day, He gives you a new opportunity to change your circumstances.
We should never give up life, no matter how painful our situation is, because God has given us life, and He still does not give up on us.
Here are some ways to help us rise from our failures.
Accept your failures
Humility is one of the most vital ingredients of success. Without accepting our failures, it would be challenging to learn from them. Being self-righteous could only hinder you from being accountable for your actions.
When you start looking at your shortcomings rather than blaming others for being manipulative, you have taken the first step toward rising from your failures.
Analyze your situation
After admitting your actions, it is time for you to analyze your situation. Ask yourself what went wrong. We can only solve problems once we know their causes. Have self-realization and identify your actions.
Moreover, we could repeat the same failure if we did not discover the root cause of the issues.
For instance, if you were a youth and failed your exam, it could be because you were too busy browsing your social media accounts instead of reviewing your lessons.
Be gracious to yourself
2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
God’s grace is enough for our weaknesses, so why should we be hard on ourselves?
Some people long for others’ validation, such as their parents, spouses, and church members. When they fail, they cannot forgive themselves.
Additionally, most people who fail cannot rise from their failures because they have set a high standard.
Nevertheless, even our Creator, the Heavenly Father, knew that the consequence of sin was being imperfect.
So, free yourself from any guilt.
Apply your learnings
It is not enough to know what went wrong, but we should have an application for whatever we have learned from our failures.
If we did not apply changes and improvements, then we are only bound to repeat the same mistake or sin again.
As for Christians, we call it repentance, which means turning away from sin after we confess it to God. Otherwise, our confessions would be worthless.
The same is true with our journey to success; we must apply what we have learned to not fail again for the same reason.
Look for a mentor
God has given authority to pastors, church leaders, and experts in a specific field to guide us through the process. God gives them wisdom to help us along our way.
Sometimes, we also need someone to remind us what we should and should not be doing. Find a mentor you can trust with your weaknesses and who will not judge you.
Also, find someone expert in that specific area, such as business, marriage, or spiritual growth.
Change bad habit
Sometimes we may not notice that the little things we do daily affect us significantly until they become the reason for our failure. We fail for a reason and must change something to rise from our failures.
If there were things we do daily that hinder us from achieving our dreams, then we consider them bad habits. We can only get to the top if we change those activities into things that could help us grow as mature individuals.
Ask for forgiveness
Whenever we fail, we cannot help but hurt others around us, especially God. We could break our families when we fail. We can never rise from our failures if we still carried this burden of not asking for forgiveness from God and all the people affected by our actions.
Additionally, the only way to truly rejoice is when we know that we have asked for forgiveness from those to whom we have caused pain.
It does not matter if they forgive us immediately as long as we sincerely apologize so we can step forward and continue our journey.
Rebuild your self-esteem
Our failures may have caused us to be broken, which lowers our self-esteem. Now that you have decided not to dwell on your failure, believe in yourself again.
If you did not allow yourself, no one can help you, not even God. Develop the confidence that comes from the Lord. He will give you the self-esteem you need, empower you, and give you the wisdom to stand again.
Bible verses to help you rise again from failure
God’s words are alive and real, inspiring us to stand again after our failures. His promises are enough to guide us, especially in changing our character to get back on track.
To help us rise from our downfall, here are some Bible verses to motivate us.
- “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.” - Proverbs 24:16
- “When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death, the righteous seek refuge in God.” - Proverbs 14:32
- “Persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:9
- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
- “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” - Psalms 40:2-3
- “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
- “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” - Deuteronomy 31:8
Failure is a friend
One of my managers always reminds us in our meetings that failure is room for growth based on a millionaire’s mindset. However, those with a poor mentality think failure is just another unlucky day in their unfortunate lives.
Once we understand that failure is the season for learning our weaknesses, it could be our friend. We discover our shortcomings when we fail, and then we can improve or change our ways for better results.
Friends help us succeed, and so do our failures. Successful people do not just achieve their goals without failing. Instead, they learn and rise when they fall to become where they are today.
We should remember that God will be with us despite our failures. We can rely on His abundant grace and mercy to empower us as we overcome our downfall.
