How to see the good in everything?
With all the destruction, problems, and pain, is it still possible to see the good in everything?
We all have struggles in our careers, families, relationships, and even ourselves. Sometimes, this is difficult to see the bright side of everything.
However, why must we see things on the bright side amidst our challenging circumstances?
Without diverting our attention to the good stuff, we may end up depressed and unable to do anything to move on from where we are.
Moreover, it is difficult for us to enjoy and be grateful for what we have now since our eyes are fixed on how big our problem is.
Life can become so sad, and you may wake up without the energy to start your day.
So, how do we see the good in everything amidst our sufferings?
How do we see the good in everything
Being negative in a negative situation will not help us solve our problems. This will only cause us to complain about our lives and give up.
The only way to fight these battles is to focus on the positive.
Here are some ways to fix our eyes on the good things.
Count your blessings
When you wake up in the morning, that is your first blessing for the day. When you see your loved ones next to you, you can consider this the next blessing.
The little things are essential, yet we do not appreciate them because we are focused on our problems.
There will always be reasons to see the good in everything if we are looking. One of the best ways is to count your blessings, big or small.
More so, you can write them on a piece of paper and post them on your wall to remind you every day of the things you are grateful for.
Try waking up and focusing on the good things rather than thinking it is another day to work hard.
Meditate on God’s word
What you fill in your mind is what comes out of it. If you are filled with God’s words and promises, you will never run out of reason to see the good things in life amidst your struggles.
You can have peace of mind that nothing could ever give you.
There are a lot of promises in the Bible that would empower us to keep going. We would know that despite our sufferings, God is with us and will never leave us.
Additionally, when we devote our time to the Lord, we draw our attention to how great and powerful God is instead of thinking of how huge our problems are.
The more we read the Bible, the more we know how to respond appropriately in every situation.
Love yourself
Most people who are trapped in negative situations are the ones who lose hope and affection for themselves. They are not motivated to recover from their brokenness because they have lost their care for themselves.
Moreover, some people give too much to seek the validation of others and tend to save something for themselves. So, they end up with nothing when they do not get appreciation.
Loving ourselves is not being selfish. God wants you to value yourself, for He values you, and you are worth it to Him.
Besides, if you love yourself, you will do everything to get yourself out of the negative thoughts and circumstances you are in. You will take care of yourself and appreciate your flaws.
As Tina Turner said, “You must love and care for yourself because that’s when the best comes out.”
Welcome positivity
Listen to music that would give you hope, like Don Moen’s “Thank You, Lord.” You can also watch videos that talk about being positive. There are a lot of pastors who post their videos on YouTube.
You can watch them and meditate on them. This is one way to divert your mind from thinking about your problems.
Do not entertain your negative feelings and make yourself busy doing things that will help you progress.
Furthermore, positive thoughts attract positive results. When everything seems to be falling apart, try to welcome and remember the positive affirmations you have heard.
Keep affirming these good things to equip your mind to believe in them.
Thus, only feed your mind with good things.
Fight negativity
Do not be afraid to talk to yourself when negative thoughts attack you because of your situation. Whenever you are thinking negatively, combat it and replace it with a positive one.
When you have listed all the promises of God, try to read them repeatedly until you memorize them.
Our thoughts are magnetic and have a frequency. Our ideas could become realities. Negativity comes from Satan.
It is his way to destroy and pull God’s people down. First, he would fill our minds with bad things amidst our difficult situation, then steal our hope to kill our joy.
Thus, we must be aware that there is a battle in our minds, and one way to fight is to put on God’s armor-His words.
When Satan tested Jesus Christ in the wilderness, Jesus combated him with God’s Words.
Stop overthinking
Overthinking means creating scenarios that do not exist. Though it is not real, our deep-rooted thinking could upset us. We twist things around, pushing us into a spiral of regret and self-hatred.
We have to let go of things out of our control. Stop acting like God, who can do anything. We still have limitations and cannot solve everything.
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
Moreover, God wants to be part of your life. He wants to work in your life but cannot do it unless you allow Him.
One of the reasons why it is hard for us to see the good in everything is that we try to do everything on our own.
Our pride results in being tired of doing things, and nothing seems to change. Stop thinking of your ways and trust in God’s ways.
Loosen up
Why are you trying to do everything so hard? Even our Lord God took a rest on the seventh day of creation. He rested so we could have a break from working and rest in His presence.
It is difficult to see the good in everything when we are tired of trying to accomplish everything. Loosen up and have a break.
God did not design life to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He created us to enjoy life and fellowship with Him.
For instance, attend church every Sunday and praise the Lord with His people. Listen to pastors’ encouragement and teaching to enjoy life amidst our problems.
Besides, have time for yourself or with your family. They say we should not wait for the storm to stop but learn how to dance in the rain.
You can still fill your home with gladness and gratitude when you try to loosen up and not be hard on yourself.
More importantly, we should know that problems are part of this fallen world.
However, the good news is that our Lord Jesus Christ has overcome this world to give us peace and reunite us with our Heavenly Father.
Our Lord Jesus has come to give us peace, and with Him on our side, everything works together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
