Jesus is Still THE WAY

I am the Lord, the God of ALL mankind. Is there anything too hard for Me? Jer 32:27

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the FIRST of the signs through which He revealed HIS GLORY; and His disciples believed in Him. John 2:11

Jesus replied "What is impossible with man, is possible with God." Luke 18:27

But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before Him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. Job 5:8,9

Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you. Joshua 3:5

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him Psalm 37:7

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever Heb 13:8

Many call Jesus the "way maker" but I say that Jesus is THE WAY!

He fed 5000 people with 5 loaves of bread and two fish.

He made the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the dead to rise!

When Israel, a nation of slaves needed deliverance, God sent mighty signs in Egypt to bring that nation to a grinding halt. He moved on Pharaoh's hardened heart to get him to eventually say "Leave, rise up, get out!" (Ex 12:31) The slaves left after this unprecedented, unparalleled show of strength and power!

When that same nation of slaves was hemmed in by the Red Sea on one side, and all Of Egypt's army on the other, HE parted the sea and caused them to pass over on dry land. Not only did HE lead Israel through, ALL of Egypt's advancing army, including horses and chariots, were destroyed in the water that came crashing down on them when they pursued.

When Peter was in prison, bound with chains to two soldiers, the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, freed him from his chains and led him out past two guard posts and through an iron gate! (Acts 12:5-17)

When Paul and Silas were severely beaten and thrown in prison with their feet fastened in stocks, they began to praise God. As a result, a violent earthquake shook the foundations of the prison, the doors flew open and their chains came loose. They led their jailer to the Lord, and he and all of his household were saved. That same jailer washed their wounds and took him to his own house and fed them! (Acts 16:22-34)

Again, Israel needed help to cross a sea – this time the Jordan River. The priests, carrying the Ark of the Covenant, stepped in to the waters, (that were flowing at flood stage during the harvest) and as soon as they did that "the waters flowing downstream were cut off and stood up in a heap." (Joshua 3:13) All of Israel crossed over on dry ground.

Once across the Jordan River, this same group of people marched around a city (Jericho) for seven days, and with a loud shout and the blast of the trumpets, the walls of the city collapsed and the city was taken. (Joshua 6:1-27)

While at a wedding, Jesus took a jug of water and turned it into wine. (John 2:1-11)

While riding in a boat with His disciples, a storm rose up and His frightened followers pleaded for His help. He commanded the winds and the waves to be still and they obeyed Him! (Mark 4:35-41)

And, in the most amazingly beautiful and powerful display ever known, a baby was born to a virgin. "He being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross." (Phil 2:5-8) He left His Throne of Glory to save us.

You can read through both Old and New Testaments and find incident upon incident of THE WAY working on behalf of those He loves. The Gospel of John tells us " Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." (John 21:25) This truth amazes me!

Sometimes, Jesus moves in ways that can be predicted. For example, we know that if a person repents and places their trust in Him, they WILL be saved. Other times, He moves in ways that defy the laws of nature and are so far out of our realm of understanding that they could never be predicted! I have been guilty of telling the Lord how He should do things. Have you ever prayed with an "agenda" asking God to do this and do that, instead of coming to Him for HIS agenda and then simply trusting that THE WAY will make a way? Have you ever been crushed with doubt when you've prayed the same prayers year in and year out and don't see any movement in the boulder you are trying to push up hill?

I've shared some of these stories (that I hope you will spend time reading for yourself) to build our faith so we will step into a deep and settled knowledge that JESUS IS THE WAY. When there seems to be no way He is still THE WAY. When we're faced with impossible situations HE IS STILL THE WAY. His power is limitless, unfettered and unrestrained and "HE WILL WITH HOLD NO GOOD THING FROM THOSE WHO WALK UPRIGHTLY." (Psalm 84:11) There is NO REASON for us to waiver in unbelief or doubt. He does not change (Heb. 13:8) What He did for Moses, or Joshua , or Peter, or Paul, or Silas or Mary, or ANY PERSON NAMED IN His Word, HE can do for us! We can move forward in complete faith because of WHO HE IS!

Libby Grimes, A WPA sister from Florida, shared a teaching with me this past week that really blessed me and fit in so well with what I was also studying. Amazing how Holy Spirit does that, isn’t it? She was studying Psalm 95 and sent me a bit of Charles Spurgeon's commentary on verse 8. I've included it here in hopes that you are as challenged as I was.

" God's way is perfect, and when we would have him alter it to please us, we are guilty of tempting him; and the fact that we do so in vain, while it magnifies the Lord's holiness, by no means excuses our guilt. Not to acquiesce in the will of God is virtually to tempt him to alter his plans to suit our imperfect views of how the universe should be governed. The Israelites put the Lord to needless tests, demanding new miracles, fresh interpositions, and renewed tokens of his presence. Do not we also peevishly require frequent signs of the Lord's love other than those which every hour supplies? Are we not prone to demand specialties, with the alternative secretly offered in our hearts, that if they do not come at our bidding we will disbelieve? True, the Lord is very condescending, and frequently grants us marvelous evidences of his power, but we ought not to require them. Steady faith is due to one who is so constantly kind. "

All I could say when I received that was "ouch." That hit me right between the eyes, in the gut, in my heart and convicted me. I have read and seen IN MY OWN LIFE, the lengths that Our Lord will go to lavish His love upon me. Haven't you? We cannot waver in doubt and unbelief when we serve so great a God!

Lord, I will not question your methods, because clearly my little brain cannot comprehend YOUR GREATNESS and that You can do ANYTHING. My finite understanding does not grasp "anything!" Help me, help us Lord, to persevere in prayer, knowing that sometimes You will change circumstances, and sometimes You will change us.

Help us Lord to be bold in what we ask, not limiting You to "something" but unleashing the "anything! We know that bold prayer honors You and You honor bold prayer! "We believe Lord, help our unbelief" (Mark 9:24) Settle us, spirit, soul and body in complete abandon and surrender to YOUR WAY.
