Let go of your control; let God take the wheel
Hebrews 11:1:
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
In the driver's seat of life, you are accustomed to gripping the wheel with certainty, navigating the twists and turns of your journey. It is a responsibility that mirrors the control you have mastered on the road, where obtaining a license demands your commitment to learning, memorizing road rules, and passing written and practical tests. You have honed your skills to be the one in command.
Yet, even the most skilled drivers encounter situations where control slips through their fingers.
The external factors, beyond your control, challenge your grip on the wheel, making it a struggle to stay on course. Life, much like this storm, can throw unexpected obstacles your way.
When control slips away, anxiety takes hold of you like an unwelcome guest.
It is a feeling that tightens your chest, quickens your breath, and sends your heart racing. The unknown becomes a vast, daunting landscape, and the lack of control intensifies the unease.
You are wired to move forward with precision, yet when external forces take charge, a sense of powerlessness creeps in. The realization that not every detour or obstacle can be anticipated weighs on you. It is a vulnerability that unsettles, leaving you grappling with the discomfort of surrendering the reins.
In this struggle for control, the mind races with "what ifs" and "buts." What if things go awry? What if the challenges ahead are too formidable?
However, you are only human.
Humans, by nature, carry limitations, and the pursuit of absolute control often eludes us. Life is a journey filled with twists and turns, and not every bend in the road can be foreseen or manipulated to align precisely with your desires.
Accepting this inherent limitation is a step towards inner peace. You may strive for control, but it is essential to recognize the boundaries of your influence. Embrace the fact that, like everyone else, you grapple with the unpredictability of existence. It is okay not to have all the answers or to foresee every outcome.
In your humanity, there is resilience.
You adapt and navigate through the uncertainties, learning and growing along the way. Rather than viewing the lack of control as a flaw, see it as an integral part of being human. You are not alone in this experience; everyone faces moments when the road ahead seems unclear.
Moreover, even if you do not have control over certain things, there is one who has: God.
His authority transcends the uncertainties that may cloud your path. You may not grasp the entirety of His plan, but trust that His wisdom far exceeds any understanding you could attain.
For instance, there may be a time when you faced a daunting decision, uncertain about the path ahead. In the intricate details of that moment, God's control quietly manifested. Like a guiding hand, He brought people and events into your life that nudged you toward a clearer direction.
Perhaps you unexpectedly crossed paths with someone who offered valuable advice or stumbled upon an opportunity that seemed tailored to your needs.
In surrendering to God’s control, you release the burdens of trying to orchestrate every aspect of your existence. This surrender is not a weakness but a profound strength, allowing you to align with a divine plan that surpasses the scope of your understanding.
Letting God take the wheel does not imply a lack of agency but rather an acknowledgment that His control is a source of security and guidance. Trust in His sovereignty, for He sees the entirety of your journey and knows the best course for your life.
