New Jerusalem Expresses God

Revelation 21:11 describes New Jerusalem saying, “Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, as clear as crystal.” In Revelation 4:2 is a throne in heaven and in 4:3 “He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance.” New Jerusalem and God both have the appearance like jasper; New Jerusalem expresses God!

This indicates that the holy city as the embodiment of and the mingling of the processed and consummated Triune God with the regenerated and transformed tripartite men shines with the preciousness and the beauty of Christ’s divine attributes in the human virtues in various aspects. Since Christ’s element has made His believers the constituents, the components, of the building up of the holy city, its shining should be the expression of Christ’s divine attributes in our human virtues in many different aspects.*

We are gradually being constituted with the unsearchably marvelous riches of Christ so that they may shine out from us’ we become their expression. This fulfills God’s eternal purpose—to have a rich expression of Himself in and through a corporate humanity.

This expression is most precious. The source is divinity but the precious light of New Jerusalem is divinity radiating through humanity. This is not a fallen humanity, not even the perfect, created humanity in Genesis 2; this is the redeemed, regenerated, transformed, and glorified humanity incorporated into New Jerusalem.
