New Jerusalem Foreseen in Ephesians, 6

Ephesians 2:8-9 remind us that we have been saved by grace, the gift of God, not by our works, and thus we should not boast. Verse 10 continues “For we are His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus.” We should not boast because the source and the realm are God in Christ Jesus.New Jerusalem

“We are God’s masterpiece.” This is true in a hidden, spiritual way today and will be manifested fully in the coming age and in New Jerusalem. The supremacy of this masterpiece far exceeds anything done by man.

Verse 12 speaks to the non-Jews about the time before salvation, “you were at that time apart from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.” Verse 13 gives the contrast in God’s salvation, “But now in Christ Jesus you who were once far off have become near in the blood of Christ.”

To be in Christ is our position today and in New Jerusalem. Apart from Christ there is no participation now in the church which is His Body, nor any participation in New Jerusalem. Christ, imparted into us, is the unique constituent, even as in Genesis 2 Eve was builded solely from a rib taken from Adam, and they are a picture of Christ and New Jerusalem.

Do You Feel Accepted or Rejected?

I went to bed, pulled the covers over my head, and had a big ole pity party. Once again, I had been rejected…come in second place…told I wasn’t quite what “they” were looking for. The scarlet letter loomed large. It wasn’t an A like Hester Prynne’s in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s book I had read in high school, but a big fat R that I chose to wear when life turned ugly. Read more...
