New Jerusalem: Nothing of the Old Man

The prior post is about New Jerusalem being composed of all God’s Old Testament and New Testament people.New Jerusalem

The prior post quotes Ephesians 2:14-15 about Christ having eliminated all distinctions and made Jews and non-Jews into one new man. In like manner 1 Corinthians 12:13 says “in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free…”

Galatians 3:28 likewise declares “There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there cannot be slave nor free man, there cannot be male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” And Colossians 3:11 proclaims that in Christ, in the new man created by Him, “there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man.”

In Christ there are no national distinctions, no cultural differences, no religious separations, no distinctions due to race or location of birth, and no separations due to social rank or educational attainment. In contrast, as Colossians 3:11 says, “Christ is all and in all.”

In the new man and unto New Jerusalem Christ “is everything….He is the centrality and universality. He is the constituent of the new man, and He is all in all in the new man.*” In Christ we have been separated from all natural distinctions and we must let them go, holding only to Him and not to them.
