One Word 2022— Intentional

We were only a few months into 2021 when my One Word 2022 came to me. Intentional.

God affirmed my one word 2022 of Intentional several times through my one word 2021—Selah.

Let me explain. For you to understand my Intentional, you must first understand my Selah.

Let’s first look at Selah. The word occurs seventy-four times in the Bible. Seventy-one times in Psalms and three times in Habakkuk. Your Dictionary explains the meaning this way, A word occurring between verses or paragraphs in parts of the Hebrew Bible, often in the Psalms, perhaps indicating a pause for contemplation.

I had been —Intentionally pausing to reflect on my daily bible study, books, music(including praise and worship), and others blog posts from friends I’ve met in the blogosphere.

Several times throughout 2021, God had stopped me in my tracks to pause and reflect.

Including when I had fallen down a few steps this past summer. While in a wrist cast and foot boot for eight weeks. He called me to slow down and pause and reflect upon him, drawing nearer to him. He whispered — {be} Intentional.

A few months later, COVID reared its ugly little head. Again, he called me to pause and reflect. It took me weeks to recover from the residual lingering effects. He whispered— {be} Intentional.

I hear your whispers, God, Loud and clear. I listen to you telling me that by being intentional, I may continue to pause and reflect upon what you call me to.

Now let’s look at intentional. Your Dictionary explains it this way something done on purpose. Synonyms include; planned, willful, thought out in advance, mindful, gladly given, of one’s own accord, informed, thoughtful.

Of course, I intend to be intentional about many things in 2022. Just to name a few, I plan to be intentional about

  • Daily Bible study
  • Praise & Worship
  • being mindful of others
  • Watching where I’m walking
  • Expressing thankfulness & gratitude
  • Offering a “Hello” when out and about
  • Writing more
  • Pausing & reflecting

This year I’ll be exploring how to be intentional with walking with God, friendships/relationships, intentional living, mental well-being, restoration, and more.

I chose Numbers 6:24-26 as my verse of the year.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’

Numbers 6:24-26 NIV
