Prematal sex: Should I keep my Virginity?

Prematal sex: Should I keep my Virginity?

Posted on August 9, 2012 Updated on August 8, 2012

Here are several reasons why it is wiser to refrain from premarital sex and keep your virginity for your husband.

  1.  The traditional and moral laws in most societies forbid sexual relations outside marriage. In the olden days, it is always a source of pride for a Parent to give out his daughter as a virgin to the Bride on the wedding day. I guess our forefathers have good reasons for observing this principle.
  2. Spiritual laws re enforce this principle.  Genesis 2 vs. 24 says: ‘therefore shall a man cleave his father and his mother, and cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh’. God that created our sexual desires with us intends it to be between couples not singles, and for those who believe in him, it is wise to obey him.
  3. Self pride and Esteem should encourage Girls to keep their virginity for their husbands. If you love to have sex as a single, would you love to tell your husband when you
  4. eventually married, all the men that have slept with you?
  5. You should start disciplining yourself by not giving in to all your desires. Learn to control your sexual desires now as a single. If you cannot control your sexual desires now, it is unlikely that you would not indulge in extra marital affairs if you eventually get married. Remember, your husband would not eventually be with you in a married relationship.
  6. I guess most men treasure a virgin woman. Down their hearts, most men would prefer to marry a virgin. If your husband did not marry you as a virgin, I guess you have no moral right to wish he remains faithful in marriage.
  7. It is easier to determine the virginity status of a woman rather than a man. As a matter of fact, there is no means of knowing whether a man is a virgin or not. So woman have greater duty to ensure they remain virgins.
  8. What of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS, and unwanted pregnancies that may adversely affect your health and career. Condoms and contraceptives have obviously not been able to solve this problem.
  9. Sex outside marriage is a sin not only against God but against yourself. 1 Corinthians 6 vs. 17 says: ‘Flee fornicating. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body’

Spiritually, a sin is what causes God to be angry with you and exposes you to attack and destruction by the devil. The weapons devil uses against disobedient children include sickness, unhappiness, crime, death, job loss and death.

  1. If you intend to remain a good Christian, then you must not have sex before marriage because this will drive the Holy Spirit away from you. The Bible says your body is the temple of God and the Holy Spirit lives inside you.  Read 1 Corinthians 3 vs. 16: Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are’.

One of my friends told me an experience in this regard. He was a good Christian, speaking in tongues but backslides and took a lady- another born again Christian to bed. He said immediately after the sexual act, he tried speaking in tongues but to his amazement, he discovered he had lost the gift of tongues! The Holy Spirit watches every activity you engage in, even when you think you are having sex in secret. Anytime you do anything contrary, he moves away from you.

  1. Do you believe in Heaven? Do you want to make Heaven? Then you must say no to premarital sex. One of the things that may make you indulge in premarital sex is the fleeting pleasure you may derive from it. But thing of the everlasting heavenly pleasure and joy you stand to lose if you die in your sex sin?  Galatians 5 vs. 19 says; ‘Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of which I tell you before, as I have also told in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Choose to stand out from the crowd. Hold on to your virginity, it is a gift of God for your husband or wife, and builds the foundation of a successful marriage. One last message, if you had premarital sex before, you can go and sin no more, and Jesus Christ will restore you virginity?
