President Trump Was Spared “for Such a Time as This”

    God Spared President Trump

Donald Trump is now officially America’s 47th president. And after winning not only the electoral college, but the popular vote, I think it’s safe to say he has a clear mandate from the American people.

We are tired of the crazy “woke” agenda we’ve been dealing with, the promotion of late term abortions, the mutilation of children, men in women’s sports—and the list goes on.

I believe God has placed Donald Trump in office “for such a time as this,” in the same way Esther was placed in an influential position to make a difference (see Esther 4:14).

He has faced incredible challenges on the way to this presidency, including two assassination attempts. He himself has said he believes God spared him, including in his inaugural address yesterday, where he said, “An assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear. But I felt then, and believe even more so now, that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”

I believe this is true as well.

President Trump could have died so easily, but God did indeed spare him. It reminds me of what Ronald Reagan said after he survived an assassination attempt of his own, “whatever happens now I owe my life to God and will try to serve him in every way I can.” He went on to have one of the greatest presidencies in American history.

    Make America Godly Again

While I appreciate President Trump’s goal to make America successful, strong, prosperous, and great again, our job as Christians is to do everything we can to make it godly again.

We want to do what we do best: teach the Word of God, preach the gospel, love people, and help people in the name of Jesus Christ. And we want to see revival in the church, because we know that America’s return to God begins with His people (see 2 Chronicles 7:14).

I know President Trump understands the important role faith plays in the history of our nation, as well as the need for it in our present and future. And I am very appreciative of the fact that many Christians have been put in positions of influence around him. Godly people influencing and counseling him is exactly what we want.

Pray for America and Our Leaders

Let’s all be praying that God leads, guides, protects, and blesses our new president. And let’s also pray that America’s greatest days are not merely behind us, but ahead of us.

Scripture reminds us it is our responsibility to pray for our elected officials, “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity” (1 Timothy 2:1–2 NLT).

    Here is my prayer:

Father, thank You for placing Donald Trump in the presidency. We pray that You will give him wisdom to make the right decisions. We pray for godly counsel around him and for competent people to help him do this job that You have called him to do.

We pray specifically for his protection. And we also pray that You will guide, direct, and use Vice President JD Vance. We also pray for our nation. We know the only hope for America is a spiritual awakening. We need another Jesus Revolution and pray You will send it in our lifetime, and soon.

You’ve told us clearly in Scripture, “if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” Lord, we pray now. We are Your people. We are calling upon You. We humble ourselves. We need You, God. Heal our land, but let that awakening start with us because You specifically say Your people. We commit our nation and ourselves to You now. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
