PROMPT COMPLIANCE

Memorise: “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed” (Ecclesiastes 5:4)

Read: Ecclesiastes 5:4-6

vowBut be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22). To satisfy the deep longings of the King of kings, you must be a man of action. God is looking for doers, not hearers. During my early years as a believer, after hearing a sermon, I immediately practiced it.

When we were told in church that worldly music was not good for our spiritual growth, that very day we destroyed record albums of Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and others in our apartment. If after hearing God’s Word with conviction and you agreed to do it but failed to do it that day, you will observe that by the following day, your commitment to doing it would have reduced. And as each day passes without doing it, so goes your resolve. If you leave it for one week without doing it, you may never do it.

Many of us have made some pledges at some point in time without fulfilling it because we have forgotten. If you forget, God does not. “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed” (Ecc 5:4). Heaven takes record of all your vows. It is dangerous to be a vow debtor. God classes vow debtors and those who say there is no God as the same – fools. Pay your vows today. The way out is to pay your vow as soon as you can. No delays.

Another quality of those who would satisfy the deepest longing of the King of kings is that they must be single-minded. They must be people who know exactly what they want and make up their minds about it. Once a vow is made, there is no going back (Luke 9:62). This is why you must count the cost before taking any decision.

One thing however is that if you have taken the decision in favour of God’s Kingdom, He will help you through. You must not pursue several things at the same time. Be focused. Are you owing God? Think. If you are, immediately pay up. By paying your vows, you are telling God you are not a fool. Tell God you are not a fool by paying your vows.

As long as you fail to pay that vow debt, Heaven may withhold your blessings. One reason some believers are experiencing delays in certain areas of their lives is because they have failed to pay their debts. If you have forgotten, ask God to remind you.

Take stock of pending restitutions. Repent and go ahead and comply
