RETURNING ON HORSE BACK

To ride on horse back is unusual progress. Effortless progress is quite an exciting experience. Who would not want to come to church when you know that the blind could see, the lame could walk or you will receive a miracle judging by past services? The presence of the miraculous has a way of spicing people’s enthusiasm to attend church meetings.

On the other hand, why won’t people lose interest in coming to church when they know it is the same praises, sermon or activity? Nothing is as spiritually killing as a cold Sunday sermon. Ministers must pay the price to deliver life-giving sermons to the congregation. In the Early church, they had great services both in the temple and in house fellowships. It was glorious progress because the leaders were riding on the back of the Holy Spirit.

Struggling stops the moment you ride on the back of the Holy Ghost. If only we can allow the Holy Spirit to carry us instead of carrying ourselves, the world will see remarkable exploits they never imagined. This is because riding is next to flying.

What can a trekking prince do to get back on the horse? First, find out what you did wrong that got you displaced. This calls for frank and unbiased personal examination. Ask yourself, where did things go wrong? Once you discover this, acknowledge your fault like the prodigal son. Willingly retrace your steps and make amends.

You would need the help of somebody greater than you to help you unseat the servant that is riding your horse because that servant would do anything to prevent a return to trekking. In the case of Samson, he cried to the Almighty God for help (Judges 16:28-30). Some time ago, our church was increasing by about 100 people every one or two months. I thought we were doing great but one day, God told me I was trekking instead of riding. Then He reminded me of the glorious days when the two of us will be chatting in my car.

Sometimes, I would stop the car just to discuss with Him. So He asked when last that happened? I apologized and put things right. That marked a new beginning for me. As you reconcile and restitute, and the Lord puts you back on the horse, keep all servants where they belong. Your flesh is your number one servant. It must be kept under (1 Corinthian 9:27).

Also, always remember to remain under the authority of the One who can lift up and pull down. Or else, no servant will want to obey you. In addition, pray without ceasing ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17). If you cannot pray, you are indirectly telling God you do not need Him. You will be restored to your horse back but stay there by His power and grace.

Some believers are trekking today because they took their internal weaknesses for granted until they were enslaved by them.
