GOD’S LIMITATION IN HARVEST
Memorise: “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished” (2 Peter 2:9)
Read: Romans 6:16-23

Another limitation of God is that He cannot judge the righteous with the wicked. He will always make a way of escape for His own in time of trouble. Jude 5-7 says He spared the righteous angels but reserved the rebels for judgement.

In the deluge, God preserved Noah and his family while the rest of the human race perished. Lot and his daughters were preserved from the inferno that gutted the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Peter 2:4-9). Up till date, God still makes a difference between the believers and the unbelievers.

When a believer is taken in the judgement of the wicked, it could be that there is something we do not know -either an act of compromise which has made that believer no different from unbelievers; or as part of God’s sovereign will. This limitation of God gives us the confidence that as long as we live for God and obey Him, we can never become victims of widespread epidemic or God’s judgement on the unbelievers. It also assures us that we shall be taken away in rapture before the coming Great Tribulation.

James 1:13-15 says God cannot be tempted with evil. God does not tempt believers to sin. It is only Satan that does this. However, He will test your faith through a trial of faith situation, or wilderness experience. In addition, God cannot impose His salvation on anyone who refuses to be saved but chooses to remain in defiance and rebellion (Matt 18:3, Prov 29:1).

God cannot force anyone to serve Him against his or her will (1 Tim 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; John. 3:16). Similarly, according to Galatians 5:19-21 and today’s reading, God will not cancel the free moral agency and moral responsibility of any man. If He does this, He will be held accountable for whatever happens to us.

The fact that you are free to serve or not to serve, obey or not to obey God, shows that you are accountable, and would be held responsible for all your actions and decisions, both now and particularly on the day of judgement. Be careful what you do! Also, God cannot prevent the death penalty from believers who backslide (1 Cor 6:9-10; James 5:19-20).

According to Galatians 6:7-8 and Romans 8:12-13, God cannot stop someone from reaping whatever the fellow has sown. When a teenager fornicates and becomes pregnant, after asking for forgiveness from the parents, she will have to face the consequences of her action. Even when God has forgiven, the repercussion of the act will still follow. e.g David.

The way out is to avoid sowing a wrong seed, or to restitute one’s evil way, which is like uprooting the seed that has been sown. Ask God to keep you from sowing evil seeds.

Any seed that will produce an evil harvest for me and my generation, father keep me from sowing it
