She Went Out Singing! - Enjoying the Journey

The meeting had concluded and I was making my way out of the church facility. As I came out a side door toward the parking lot I found myself behind an older lady who was walking to her car. She did not know I was behind her…and then I heard her. She was singing! No one else was around and she was singing – singing to herself and singing to the Lord. It was beautiful.

There was something wonderfully refreshing about hearing a Christian overflowing with worship and leaving with a song of praise. As I left the meeting I thought: that is how I would like to go out. I want to go out singing!

  • I want to go out every day singing. Begin your day with praise. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” (Psalm 100:4).
  • I want to go out to each task singing. Praise sanctifies all labor. “Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing” (Psalm 100:2).
  • I want to go out into eternity singing. When I take my last breath here on earth I hope it is full of praise for God. “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD” (Psalm 150:6).

As you go out into this broken world, go out singing! Take the joy of Jesus with you. Remember that you never leave His presence and what you should leave behind is the testimony of a heart made glad by grace.

Yes, that sweet Christian lady taught me something at church on that Lord’s day – she went out singing!
