The Keys To Know God Personally - Part 2 -
The Keys To Know God Personally – Part 2
Personally knowing God involves developing a deep, intimate relationship with Him. An intimate relationship with God is characterized by trust, communication, understanding, love, devotion…
An intimate relationship with God takes time and effort to develop. Knowing God personally will bring meaning and purpose to your life, along with many other spiritual riches such as joy, peace, hope…
In Part 1 of The Keys To Know God Personally we began to look into God’s word to find the answer to this question. Is it possible to know God personally ? It can be a challenge to learn how to know God personally and in real ways because it is not like knowing another person. You cannot see God. And at times you do not hear His voice speaking to you. Or so it seems.
God is a loving, caring, and personal God. Although it may not seem like it, God is always near to us.
“that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.” – Acts 17:27

How To Know God Personally & Be God’s Friend
Very few people in the Bible are called God’s friend. Many people in the Bible knew God and served Him, but very few are actually called God’s friend. Abraham was called God’s friend.
“But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham My friend” – Isaiah 41:8
“and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “ And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness , and he was called the friend of God.” – James 2:23
Faith and trust in God is another key to knowing God personally. And to having close fellowship with God and being God’s friend.
The Keys To Know God Personally
Noah was another person in the Bible who walked closely with God.
“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.” – Genesis 6:8-9
Noah found favor and grace with God. Because Noah earnestly sought God, and was faithful and obedient, He found favor with God. And Noah was able to know God personally and walk closely with God. Faithfulness and obedience are other keys to knowing God personally.

Another Person Who Knew God Personally And Was His Friend
David was another person who found that it is possible to know God personally. We all know that David was not a perfect man, and that he greatly sinned against God. But when he sinned against God, he confessed and repented.
Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge… Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. ” – Psalm 51:4,12
David possessed a quality that God desires in all of us. This quality leads to the blessing of knowing God personally and having close fellowship with Him. This quality helps to have the complete unity with God that He desires.

David Was Considered By God “A Man After His Own Heart”
“After He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart , who will do all My will.” – Acts 13:22
David was a “man after God’s own heart”. David surrendered all to God and thus God was able to transform David’s heart. And God was able to replace David’s own desires, interests, priorities, passions, and will with His own. That is what we all need God to do if we are to be people “after God’s own heart”. If we want to know God personally and walk closely with Him, we will need God to change our hearts.
“You will make known to me the way of life. In Your presence is fullness of joy. In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”- Psalm 16:11
David’s full surrender to God was a key to his close fellowship with God. And because David allowed God to transform him and his heart’s desires, interest, priorities, and passions, he was able to enjoy the blessings of his close fellowship with God.
In Part 3 we will continue to look into The Keys to know God personally. And we will see other examples of people that were considered by God to be a friend of His.
