The link between Judah and Christ.

Good day beautiful people,

I hope that this post meets you well? Please do continue to stay safe and hold onto your faith in Christ Jesus.

This post has been inspired by the passage Genesis 43:8-9. From today’s title I’m sure that you’ve managed to work out that in this write up I’ll be prying into the life of Judah one of the twelve sons of Jacob. Upon reading Genesis chapter 43 this year, I realised that there are a few similarities between Judah and Christ the Messiah. I must emphasise that only God is perfect and I am in no way insinuating that Judah is perfect, but there are certain characteristics that Judah exhibited which points us towards Christ’s salvation plan for humanity.

The Old Testament is such a wonderful text to us believers, because it points us towards the coming of the Messiah, and reminds us that God always fulfils His promises. The Old Testament shows us that prophecies concerning God the Son’s coming have been fulfilled when looking at the New Testament. This is encouraging as it reminds us believers that God‘s promises concerning our lives will not go on unfulfilled because we serve a covenant keeping God. Just a quick side-note as christians we should not neglect reading the Old Testament as some do for the Bible reminds us in the book of Timothy that all scripture is useful. And don’t forget that Jesus came to fulfil the law.

2 Timothy 3:16 ~ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

Genesis 43:8-9 ~ ”Then Judah said to Israel his father, “Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones. I myself will be surety for him; from my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever.“

^^^Judah personally guaranteed the safety of Benjamin, and stated that he’d bring him back to his father! This is symbolic because through believing in Jesus, His death and resurrection we’re guaranteed heaven (this is when we accept salvation [John 3:16]). Judah said he’d face the blame if something went wrong with preserving the life of his younger brother Benjamin. Jesus took the blame on our behalf (like a scapegoat), He bore our sins on His shoulders and in doing so He reconciled us back to our Heavenly Father. Jesus a descendant of Judah died once and for all, He came to save humanity.

1 Peter 2:24 ~ who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

2 Corinthians 5:17-19 ~ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Remember that you are so loved, so much so that God came and died in your place. Never ever let anybody tell you that you are worthless. You are precious and valuable in the eyes of God and God loves you with an everlasting love. I hope and pray that you could take something away from today’s write up. I want to encourage us all to continue to aspire to grow in our faith and not to remain in the same place. Go deeper in your Bible reading, use commentaries, if needs be go to Bible school where you can gain more knowledge and understanding about the God you serve through servants of God who are able to accurately divide the word of God, and are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Love you all stay safe and God bless.

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
