Genesis 30 vs. 1 –And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.
- There is power in your tongue
- You can make or mar your life with the words you say.
- In the first passage, Rachel ignorantly puts a curse on herself.
- She eventually had a child, but when she was about to have the second-born she died in the process.
- Rachel should have simply said “Give me children” and refrain from putting her life on the line
- Rachel waited for long years in her husband’s house, but could not bear a child.
- She became desperate and was ready to die if her prayers were not answered.
- God visited her when giving birth to the child.
- Desperation for answered prayers should not lead us to curse ourselves.
Prayers
- I received the patience of the Holy Spirit in Jesus.
