Idols and Demons

The Worship of Idols and Demons

Idols Are Not Neutral — “They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols” (Leviticus 17:7) Worship of idols was always condemned—not as empty or neutral—but as a direct offense to God.

Behind Every Idol Is a Demon — “They sacrificed to demons, not God” (Deuteronomy 32:17) When people worship anything other than God, they’re offering themselves to demonic beings.

Demon Worship Leads to Destruction — “They sacrificed their sons to demons” (Psalm 106:37) Idolatry leads to injustice, violence, and death—because demons seek to destroy.

Pagan Worship = Demon Worship — “What pagans sacrifice is to demons” (1 Corinthians 10:20) Paul warns the church: You can’t worship idols without involving demons.

Idol Worship Is Ongoing Rebellion — “They did not stop worshiping demons and idols” (Revelation 9:20) Even under judgment, people cling to idol worship—proving its demonic grip.

False Religion Is Demon Religion — “He appointed priests for goat idols” (2 Chronicles 11:15) Every false system of worship—no matter how organized or ancient—is a demonic counterfeit.
