    Unlimited: Find the Quietness

In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength (Isaiah 30:15, NIV).

Life is full of noise. You have to learn to make yourself quiet before God in order to hear his voice and find peace.

In the time of the prophet Isaiah, the nation of Judah was threatened by the mighty Assyrian empire, and the Babylonian empire loomed in the horizon.

The nation of Judah was just a tiny minnow. Danger was roaring and threatening all around them. The rulers of Judah were anxiously maneuvering to try to save themselves through political and military means.

However, God reminded Judah through the prophet Isaiah that their salvation lay in rest, and their strength lay in quietness and trust (Isaiah 30:15). God had to teach his boisterous prophet, Elijah, the exact same thing: to listen for the still, small voice of God (1 Kings 19:11-13).

The same principle applies in your own life. The only way to have quiet strength in your life is to make time for stillness and quiet in your life. You must let the Holy Spirit quiet your anxious, doubting thoughts, and fill you with God’s words instead.

Let your thoughts be directed to God’s Word. Let your mind be filled with the goodness and the faithfulness of God. Let your prayers not be ones of anxious fretfulness, but of gratitude and quiet trust.
