Walking with Purpose. The first step must begin with intent to get to the purpose.
I learned a huge lesson a few years back, after having foot surgery, about balance, stability, intent, and purpose - in every area of my life. After keeping the foot in a cast for 6 weeks, I had to retrain myself to walk correctly, especially when the steps were already off kilter before having surgery. When each foot moves forward, you place each of the corners, heels or toes first (ha,ha! If you walk on your toes...well, good luck with that!), firmly on the ground to create balance and stability. This affects your body all the way up and if you correctly align the ankles, knees, hips, chest and head, you stand taller, you look more confident and the body grows stronger. When you walk, those steps must be intentional in order to retrain and achieve the directive to get where you want to go. Each step leads you closer to your purpose. Do you know what your purpose is? In life, in business, physically, spiritually, emotionally? Where one is off, the rest are likely off balance too.
I explored everything in my life with that down time. Where did I want to change, how could I grow from there? What should my business look like? What's my purpose going forward? The example of my feet being planted firmly leading to balancing the rest of my body is true. Metaphorically, it leads to not only physical stability but also emotionally and spiritually as well. These need to be in balance in order to succeed in business and relationships. Some days we struggle and "fake it 'til we make it", but that's no way to live. Been there, done that. Done with it...
With much prayer and trusting God for the direction, I found that my purpose is to bring joy, hope, truth, and encouragement by creating beautiful images, creating Biblically-based books to help women overcome life's obstacles, and exhorting them. I am who I was created to be by Christ my Lord & King. My favorite saying is, "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken." As someone who was always DEEPLY insecure, I became secure, even without all the answers. Trusting in the Lord has become the first step in the process, not trusting in my own fearful, worried, OCD (yes I am, but much better now) brain! Hey, I finally stopped biting my nails at 52! I was like a little chipmunk and just had to whittle those poor nubs down to nothing because of my anxiety!
So, my two-cents...be yourself, find yourself, ask the hard questions of the Lord and don't be afraid of the answers. Never stop exploring, even when the struggle gets you down. Get back up, keep going and ask what your purpose is and keep walking until you find it. Don't give up! Failure is the only option when you don't try. Trying gets you at least a chance for success! Those who have been successful had to fail, and fall down, over and over again until their tenacity brought them achievement, eventually.
Life is a mystery and one day all will be revealed and made known. Some of you already agree. There is an element of trust and an acceptance of our lack of control that we must embrace in order to truly let go and find the balance needed to navigate life. Will we ever really arrive? Yes! When one day, our King Jesus comes and makes everything brand new! Check out the end of the Book! Revelation 19-22 holds amazing, hopeful, and challenging, promises! Hold onto the promises, His Word is true and if you ask Him to reveal life to you...He will.
And to answer a friend. Yes! I was able to walk again my friend, thank you for asking! One step at a time, right?
