We Need to Encounter God

Encountering God is never a coincidence – and it surely doesn’t just happen by mere chance. No way. Not our God. He is purposeful. He likely has your name penciled in his agenda at the exact date, time, and location in which he intends to appear in some way, shape, or form to you. In fact, he probably uses a Sharpie instead of a pencil.

You don’t need to hold some high-ranking spiritual title to be blessed with an encounter with God. And, you don’t need to perform certain tasks or duties to have the opportunity either. You simply need to want to encounter God.

So, without further ado, let’s discover why we need to encounter God.

    Strengthen Your Faith

You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apartment from me you can do nothing.

    John 15:1-5 (NLT)

We are taught to have faith. We read our bibles and we listen to the testimony of others. But, by our human nature, we question – a lot. Some of us more than others. We wonder if God is real and if his promises are real. And we tell ourselves to just have faith.

But, life is filled with ups and downs, isn’t it? And, when we reach out during whatever season we are in, we want to know that our God is there, right? We can have faith that he is there — just like we have faith that the air we need to survive is going to fill our lungs even though we can’t physically see it. But, that doesn’t mean our faith is that strong.

Encountering God is – in some way – a boost or a little reassurance to let us know that God really is there. You know, it is like adding some diced habanero to your salsa. A little kick to really get you going. That’s what an encounter can do to your life — it spices it up!

For those who have find themselves questioning — an encounter with God is often enough to solidify that He is the Waymaker, the Prince of Peace, and the King of Kings. An encounter proves to our little human selves that God is real.

    Increase Your Bond with God

Come close to God, and God will come close to you…

    James 4:8

Think about your family and friends. How often do you chat with them, text them, or think about them? Your life may be too busy now, but there was likely a time in the past when you spent quite a bit of time with certain family members or friends. After all, that is how you build a bond with others. And, once it is strong enough, you feel confident in your relationship, right? You know that this particular friend or family member will definitely be in your corner when the need arises.

This same concept applies to God. You have to build a relationship with Him. You have to gain the confidence in knowing that he is there – and he will be – as long as you seek him.

Talk to him, visit with him, make time for him. Once you spend time to nurture your bond with God, your relationship with Him will grow stronger.

Nourish your spiritual growth ➡ Encounter God ➡Increase your Bond. See how this works? God’s a keeper so keep working on your growth.

    Build a Knowing Trust

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

    Hebrews 11:6

If you need someone right now, who would you call? We all have certain people in our lives that we know will be there no matter what. Well, guess what? God is that way, too. But, how many times do you find yourself stuck in a rut and then pick up the phone to call a friend – instead of turn to God in prayer?

The more we encounter God, the more we begin to trust and rely on him. Encounters should not happen sparingly. Instead, we should invite him to meet us regularly – and search for him in everything we do.

You never know when your first or next encounter with God may be. Therefore, stay humble, keep your heart in the right place, and chase after him! When he is ready, you will know.

    Until next time… ❤❤
