What do you do with God’s commandments? This is an important question I have tried to answer during my various counseling sessions.

What do you do with God’s commandments? : Many people’s ignorance

Many people know that God’s commandments are available and they know the value of His commandments but I have seen and observed how some Christians don’t know what to do with God’s commandments and how God’s instructions can profit them.

This post will answer the question, what do you do with God’s commandments in a very simple and biblical manner.

God owns the earth (Psalm 24:1). He also owns every person living and walking on the surface of this earth.  If God owns the earth, then, He is the only one who has the map of the earth with Him.

He knows all the corners, all the streets, all the locations on this earth. He knows how you and I (His creations) can live and walk successfully on this earth.

How does God help you to live and walk successfully on this earth?

He does this through instructions and commandments. The first commandment to you (and anyone) is found in Matthew 11:28:

”Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.

You must be born again to become God’s child. After this experience, God begins to give you instructions, commandments, advice, so that you can begin to live according to His will for you.

How are you expected to relate with these commandments?

  • You must receive and accept them: ”My son, if you receive my words…” (Proverbs 2:1a). Many hear His commandments in churches, in the bible, on tapes, online, during counseling, through dreams but don’t receive and accept them. You must take them to heart, convincing yourself that it is the only message that can help you.
  • You must treasure them: ”…And treasure my commandments within you” (Proverbs 2: 1b). You should also treasure these commandments. Collect them, write them down, read them to yourself over and over again, let them be your thoughts and confessions, guard them with your life.

Happy are you when God guides, instructs or commands you. Your duty is to relate with these commandments exactly as I have described above.
