What Road Sign Best Describes Your Life?
I recently came across this question and my immediate thought was, uh – U-turn! Because, well, let’s be honest, this year hasn’t been the most pleasant, has it? At times, it seems like it would be easier if we could just turn around and go back where we came from.
Then, I realized, nah, I don’t want to go back there, either.
What about that road sign that let’s us know there are curvy, winding roads ahead? Or, maybe the one that shows a sharp right curve ahead? Perhaps it is a detour sign? Yield? Stop? 70 MPH? What do you think?
I thought about all sorts of road signs… and then, in my mind’s eye, I saw the perfect one. The one road sign that just makes sense.
This one…
Weird right? I get it. Why would anyone want to picnic during this time? Why would anyone want to sit back and kick it in COVID-19 world with a bunch of other life-changing things taking place around us?
Here’s my reasoning. We may want to be somewhere else. We may think that the grass would be greener if we were just ________________. And, you may very well be right – the grass could be greener over there. But, that’s not where you are supposed to be right now, is it? That’s not the plan for this moment. If it was, you’d be there!
Look around you. Right here, right now… this is where you are supposed to be. Sure, you may have had plans to be doing something else right now. I know I sure did. But it is not up to me – and it is not up to you, either.
“You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.” – Proverbs 19:21
In other words, you can say that you would like to make that U-turn or take a different route. You can book your ticket, make your plans, ask for time off at work, or just walk away from your life today. But, God has a plan for you – and it’s not always going to be smooth sailing. So, if you are encountering a lot of frustration and changes in your circumstances due to what’s going on in your world – Just be patient.
Wait for God.
Feed yourself on His word.
And, why not make the most of the right now?
Have a picnic.
You’ll know when it is time to get back on the road. 🌞
Until next time… ❤❤
