“Where is this God of Yours?”
As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God.
Psalm 42:1-2
Where is God? Come on – you know the answer to this question.
God is everywhere. Yes, everywhere. He is in the sunshine. And he is in the dark, thunderous clouds. He is here right now and he will be here tonight, in the morning, and all day tomorrow, too.
God is in our good times. He is also in our bad times. Of course, it is easy to say, right? We know that God is greater than all of this around us — and that he is all matter. But, when you find yourself in certain unpleasant moments, it is hard to remember that yep, God is there, too.
God was with us on that bathroom floor as we bellowed cries of our deepest pains. God was with us when we worried we weren’t going to see light again. God was with us when we tried to fight off someone hurtful that was threatening to disrupt our life and well-being. God was with us as we cried out for the healing of our loved one.
God was there through our grief. God was there through our hard times. God was there through our darkest moments.
And, God is still here right now – through everything that is going on. Do you see him? Look for him.
We are so quick to run to him when we are happy and when things are going our way, right? We throw out shouts and praises, “God is GOOD!” and “Praise God,” so quickly. But, what happens with things get rough? What happens when the darkness settles in?
Well, God doesn’t want a some-timin’ Christian. He wants a believer. He wants a disciple. He wants a servant. He wants you. All the time. In the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Life is crazy right now. For some, this is all just a minor inconvenience. For others, life has been impacted so deeply that the psychological impact could last for years. Some folks are dealing heavily with loss, whether income and stability or the loss of a family member – or both.
There is grief, fear, and depression. And, for many, hope is hard to find.
It is at times like this that non-believers ask Where is this God of yours? Your faith needs to be strong enough that you can tell them, with confidence, that he is here, he is everywhere. And, the hope he brings is stronger than all the fear, loss, and pain. You need to believe this.
“O God my rock,” I cry, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies?” Their taunts break my bones. They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?”
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again – my Savior and my God!
Psalm 42:9-11
Keep your eyes focused, my friends. Don’t lose sight of the One to who you belong. Although it may seem like he isn’t near these days, he is. Find Him.
Until next time… ❤❤
