The following is an excerpt from a message I recently delivered at Oak Hills Church in Folsom entitled WHY ART? This is Part 1 of a 4 Part series entitled, ARTFUL LIVING. For more on this first discussion, please check out the YouTube video above. The message begins at 44:00 and is about a half hour long. Enjoy!

“Have you ever thought, what was the role of Jesus during the act of creation? In other words, where was Jesus during Genesis, Chapter 1? Well, John 1:3 tells us. It says:  “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

“Think about the implications of this for a moment? It’s mind-blowing. The creative muse of the Trinity flowed through the pre-incarnate Jesus in those first six days of creation. Through Him, cosmos comes from chaos.

“Just try to imagine our Triune God on those first days of creation. Splashing colors here and there, moving atoms and molecules, and planets and stars, spinning galaxies upon galaxies. And Father, Son, and Spirit delighting at every turn. This is good. This is good. This is also good. This is very good. God’s glory reflecting upon itself, the Creator delighting in every perfect action of creation.

“Now here’s the thing. Just a few short verses later, in verse 26, the Bible says that we are made in God’s image. And as such, we also have the ability in some small way to create, as He creates. And this is more profound than we know…”
