Why Christians must pray

1 Thessalonians 5 vs. 17

Pray without ceasing

Prayer is another word for spiritual communication with God. If we regard God as our heavenly Father, I guess we need to keep talking to him.

Prayer is therefore the means of interacting with God.  If we refuse to pray, it means we are denying God of knowning our thoughts, feelings and needs.

Relationships either in the physical or spiritual realm is sustained by communication.  Just imagine if a child wakes up in the morning and he fails to say Good morning to his parents.

Or a worker resumes at work without saying Hi to his Boss? Thats what happens when we fail to pray, we are cutting our self from God.

Another reason we need to pray is for God to know our mind. God gives everyone a free will to decide what he wants. If we fail to pray and inform God of our needs, it will be wrong to assume he knows our desires.

Another reason to pray is that  Prayer wades off evil. The Bible describes Satan as a roaring Lion looking for who to devour. Prayer based upon the word of God is the most effective way to ward off the evil activities of the devil against our lives.

When we pray, we are calling God to action, and reminding him of his promises. The effect of our prayers is  that God will send Angels to implement various actions in answer to our prayers.
