Why should I pay tithes to my church?

Read: Malachi 3:8-12

“Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine” (Genesis 27:28). When Isaac was about to transfer the generational blessing on Jacob, after the latter provoked him with a mouth-watering meal, he asked God to bless him from Heaven. James 1:17 says Heaven is the source of all genuine blessings. Malachi 3:10 says Heaven has windows.

They can be open or shut to an individual, family, church, community or nation. When the windows are open, showers of blessings fall from Heaven. But when they are shut, there will be no dew or rain. It is amazing that what you do on earth affects these Heavenly windows. For instance, faithful tithing by a bonafide believer in Christ opens the windows over the fellow.

In the same way, default in tithing by a genuine believer shuts these windows. This shows that although the Heavenly planet is so far away from the earth, yet it is so spiritually close to the earth, and earthly activities affect it on regular basis.

Tithing is a very powerful activity if done accurately, and without sin. Any professing believer who does not tithe ought to be pitied. Apart from individual tithes, do you know God expects groups, Christian communities and nations to tithe?

In our text, God cursed the Israeli nation for robbing Him of tithes. This means corporate organizations belonging to believers should tithe. Whole Christian communities say in Nigeria or Liberia should tithe. Do you know that God expects the Body of Christ in each nation to tithe?

Any one who refuses to do so attracts curses and shuts the heavenly windows. In a Christian family, every member of that family must tithe. When the father and mother pay tithe but the children do not, it can affect the windows of Heaven in a negative way. If you want Heaven’s windows open to your family, ensure every member of that family faithfully tithes.

Otherwise, only those who tithe in that family will receive the blessings. Yet, it will not be full because somewhere, somehow a member of that family is shutting the windows others are trying to open.

From today, get a tithing envelope for every member of your family, particularly your children. Teach them what tithing is about and ensure they participate in it.
