Will my physical health worsen?
Psalm 73:26:
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
1 Peter 5:10:
"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."
You lie in bed each night, your body aching with constant pain. Medications pile up beside you, a daily ritual to simply get through the day. Every minute feels like a struggle, a continuous battle against the torment within.
Despite the pills, the pain persists, a haunting companion that lingers. Pushing yourself further feels like a risky game; there is a fear that one wrong move could lead to worsening health.
But the nights are the hardest. Anxiety sets in as you confront the uncertainty of getting through the darkness. It is not just physical pain; it is the mental anguish of not knowing what the next dawn might bring.
In this case, what can you do? You know you should trust God, but how can you when suffering challenges your faith?
Know this: the Bible does not promise a life free from struggles. But it assures that when you call out to the Lord in prayer, He listens.
Praying without ceasing does not guarantee getting everything you desire. God's ways are beyond ours, yet He orchestrates everything for our good, even in the face of suffering.
When you entrust your fears to the Lord through prayer, He blankets you in the peace of Christ. Remember, God is always by your side. The Psalms vividly describe a God abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Just as God never abandoned His people during Exodus, He remains with you through the Holy Spirit. Jesus, your light and salvation, promises to be with you always, not just during tough times, but until the end of the age. So, lean on this truth amid your challenges.
Moreover, do not beat yourself up for questioning Him.
In the depths of suffering, even Job questioned the very purpose behind his trials. He could not fathom why God would let him endure such pain and loss. The weight of his suffering led him to wonder aloud, seeking understanding amid his agony.
But God was not playing games with Job. It was not some cosmic joke. Instead, there was a deeper purpose at play. See, God wanted to showcase Job's unwavering faith, even in the face of unimaginable hardship. Through Job's ordeal, God demonstrated that genuine faith can withstand the fiercest storms.
Life might throw curveballs your way, and you will question the why of it all. Just like Job, you might wonder why things go south when you are giving it your all. But here is the silver lining: God's got a plan, a grander purpose that might not always make sense at the moment.
So, when the storms of sickness hit, when suffering from your worsening physical health knocks on your door, remember Job. Keep the faith, even when the path seems unclear. Your story, just like Job's, might be a testament to resilience, endurance, and the unwavering strength that comes from trusting in the higher purpose set by the Almighty.
