Witnesses - Making Scripture Relevant

The homily I heard today at Mass was a reflection on how the First Reading and the Gospel are related. This is often the case, where they have similar lessons.

The impression was on the words, “We are witnesses.” When you see, when you feel, when you believe, then you are witness to the Gospel. The words, the homilist used that caught my attention were, ‘there is a new way to be human.’

It brings home the message that when you say you are Christian, your behavior must follow your words. I was also reminded of a song from the movie soundtrack of A Walk to Remember by Switchfoot titled, New Way to be Human.

    The lyrics say,
“You're a new way to be human
    Where my humanity blends
To a new way to be human
    Redemption begins”

The song is saying in our daily routine God can get lost, but He is right there, ready to show the way to a way of being human, REDEEMED!
    .
Such a wonderful example and reminder of the importance of this Easter season!
