Yesterday’s Manna — Ami Loper

Trying to use yesterday’s anointing for our daily work

I know the men who are among my Friends may not get this illustration, but read this anyway.... 😊

Ladies, have you ever slept in your makeup? When I first started wearing makeup in the 7th grade, I would think, “Maybe I can just sleep in it so I don’t have to take the time to apply it all over again in the morning.”

It didn’t work. The foundation was smeared on my pillowcase or floating above my oily skin. The eyeliner had drifted down, giving me that raccoon look. The eyeshadow was gone and the lipstick had smeared into a splotch.

Trying to do today’s work with yesterday’s anointing is much the same. We each need a fresh anointing for today’s marching orders.

How effective do you desire to be in your daily work? Whatever field we are in, our work has eternal value. How can we make sure we are having the impact the Lord intends us to have? #ChristianBlog #YourBestLife #LiveYourPassion

Like the Children of Israel gathering manna in the wilderness, what they gathered today couldn’t be hoarded for tomorrow. It had an expiration date that kept them dependent on the daily need to trust the Lord for the provision only He could provide.

Here’s the beautiful truth: God has something for you - every day. It’s new and fresh and has the power to sustain you. If we aren’t pursuing our daily manna, we are missing something — something from God!! Something He longs to give us. And something that will sustain us and minister to those around us. But too often we rush off to do the things God has called us to do, our daily work, without getting our daily need for the manna of God met.

Why would we do that? Why would we try to use yesterday’s make up to cover today? Why would we try to eat moldy, weevil-y manna? The fresh anointing is available to you — TODAY!

But do you need anointing for something as basic and routine as your daily job? Yes! You do, if you want to fulfill the role for which God has placed you in that position, if you want to be a blessing to those around you, if you want to have the assurance that you aren’t alone in that place of potential chaos, rumor and backbiting!

Don’t miss this opportunity. Without a demanding spirit, we can boldly rest before the Lord and say, “Lord, what do you have for me today?” And we can trust that something fresh is coming.

“And Moses said to them, ‘Let no one leave any of it [the manna] over till the morning.’ But they did not listen to Moses. Some left part of it till the morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. Morning by morning they gathered it, each as much as he could eat; but when the sun grew hot, it melted” (Exodus 16:19-21).

        Two Things — Ami Loper

When our daughter was little, she had a thing about hearing instruction and finding the cutest way to circumvent it. Frequently, I’ll go out for brief moments to stick my feet in or even get in up to my clothes. It irritates me with myself—my hesitancy to just jump in. I’m working on it….
