Your body is His temple.

Hi beautiful people, I hope that this post meets you well, glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace. It’s been a while and I thought it would be a good idea to get back to doing what I love: writing, blogging, journalling, and encouraging others.

Today’s post has been inspired by the book of Nehemiah, chapter 10, verse 39. I hope this short piece will be a source of joy to those who read and a reminder that you are loved so deeply by God.

Nehemiah 10:39 ~ “The people and the Levites must bring these offerings of grain, new wine, and olive oil to the storerooms and place them in the sacred containers near the ministering priests, the gatekeepers, and the singers. “We promise together not to neglect the Temple of our God.”

Firstly, I’d like to express that I’m not just writing for writing sake, as I put together this piece I’m also speaking to my soul and spirit. These couple of weeks have been mentally, tasking, draining, and overwhelming. I believe that it’s necessary for us to pause and acknowledge our Maker so that the affairs of life do not drown out His still gentle voice that ministers grace, strength, love, and hope to our souls. Sometimes you just need to take time out not only to talk to God but to listen to Him, to listen to Him through His word.

When meditating on the above passage, I had to take an honest look at myself and question whether I sincerely look after my body. Because my body is God’s temple, the place in which the Holy Spirit resides. One thing that I always love to highlight is that our physical state can and does impact us emotionally and spiritually. Sometimes we can develop coping mechanisms to deal with the pressures of life which are not always healthy for us, such as comfort eating, consuming extremely sugary snacks just to help us get through, to give us that energy boost that we so desperately need. When in reality such actions patch up symptoms of burnout temporarily without dealing with the root cause.

1 Corinthians 6:19 ~ Don’t you realise that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.

[An interesting video relating to our body and the temple design described in the book of Exodus. Please do watch it in your spare time; it’s 6 minutes and 20 seconds long: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sQR124XByxA&pp=ygUVWW91ciBib2R5IEdvZHMgdGVtcGxl ]

Are we shutting our Maker out? Are we neglecting our relationship with Him knowingly or unknowingly? Invite God in, invite Him into every aspect of your life because the peace that He gives is a peace which the world could never ever give. He is able to give you the wisdom that you need to be able to have that work-life balance; He is your Maker and He knows your strengths and your shortcomings; allow Him to provide you with the solution that you need to get through the challenges you are in.

Don’t let bitterness, resentment, anger, or frustration towards your family members, colleagues, yourself, or God eat you up inside because, in all honesty, bitterness and unforgiveness can lead to physical ailments within the body.

Learn to take each day a step at a time; you may have 101 tasks to fulfil on your list of things to do, but remember it’s okay to end the day having done 68 of those tasks. Sometimes we set expectations for ourselves that cause unnecessary pressure within our lives, targets which have been set by ourselves and not God. Remember that our prayer should be for God’s plans for our life to come to pass. It’s about God’s will and not about us having our own way, remembering that His plans for our lives are good and not of evil.

^^^Psalm 138:8 ~ “The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.”

So, learn to take care of your temple, look after your body. It’s okay to rest and do nothing sometimes. It’s okay to say no, it’s okay to pause. It’s okay to wait. It’s okay to carry on with a specific task the next day. It’s okay to slow down, and sometimes you may even need to stop for a while, and that’s okay too. But at all times, whether the world seems to be moving 100 mph or 5 mph, acknowledge your Maker. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path. And remember that He will never leave you or forsake you.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ~ “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Once again, thanks for reading, have a wonderful day, and God bless.

    • Get enough sleep
    • Stay hydrated
    • Eat well
    • Don’t struggle alone, reach out for help when you need it
    • Stay connected with family and friends
    • Give back (serve others in a capacity you feel comfortable with… i.e. volunteer within your local community)
    • Don’t run away from God, run into His loving arms
    • Do something you love (engage in your favourite hobby/activity)
    • Manage your time on social media (step away if you need to)
    • Find strength in God’s word
    • Stay away from pessimistic/toxic environments
    • Pray about your work struggles (pray for wisdom on how to manage workload and seek help from management, a health and safety advisor, or Human Resources)

Simply a young woman striving to encourage women of God, whilst trying to spread the gospel to a mass majority of ladies all over the world. I am an armature with regards to blogs, but with more time and by God’s grace I shall improve lol. I want every single female on earth to know how much she is loved by God (John 3:16)! Please feel free to contact me via email for encouragement, advise or prayer (I am not a qualified counsellor, or a pastor, but I believe as a young woman I will be able to relate with SOME of the things other women around the world are going through). <<< As of Feb 2019 I completed my Counselling level 3 diploma Praise God 💃🏾. I intend to help others not in my own strength, but with the help of the Holy Spirit.
