Your words…

Rumi
Where did we get this idea that yelling wins the battle?
Somehow, we think that we can outshout our way to winning an arguement.
But amid all the shouting there is not much listening.
To win someone over to our thinking we must do more listening than anything else.
If the issue is so intense that we find ourselves raising our voices, we need to step away.
We need to take a breather, calm our hearts down and reconsider what we want to express.
Very few things are won by shouting.
*** Except, when we are warning of danger or calling out to someone from a distance.
Unless you are cheering for your favorite team speak quietly and calmly.
Don’t raise your voice.
