This is every Early Christian commentary, early church commentary, and church father writing on Romans 10:9-15. I've divided this into three schools of thought.1. The Early Church Antiochene school of thought, including John Chrysostom, who teaches salvation is given by believing and calling on God in prayer to give you...
The writings of Gennadius of Constantinople sound remarkably close to Martin Luther.“The Syrian group (Antiochan Fathers) is plainly a group of Bible-believing, Bible-preaching people who were first called “Christians” at Antioch and were the first to send out missionaries with the gospel (Acts 13:1–5). Any “neutral approach” which refuses to...

Have you ever wondered if Diodorus of Tarsus, some say Diodore of Tarsus held a view that the Romans 10:13 calling is vocal or internal? His student John Chrysostom literally says “For in thy mind and in thy tongue is thy salvation. There is no long journey to go, no seas...

This has every single Diodorus of Tarsus, or some say Diodore of Tarsus commentary on Romans side by side with the adjacent John Wesley Romans commentary. As Diodore of Tarsus only quoted on parts of Romans. John Wesley's commentary will only be on the same verses. If John Wesley didn't have...

There seems to be a rather unfortunate mistake held by some people, that Diodorus of Tarsus's writing "to pray and to ask" is in reference to baptismal vows. HOWEVER, a reading of Diodorus of Tarsus shows that this is wrong, and that it is instead referencing asking God for the...
We find in Diodorus of Tarsus’s commentary on Romans 10:11-13.“Necessarily he set forth ‘those who call upon him.’ For God does not give grace without discernment, extending it even to those who are unwilling to offer so much to the Benefactor as at least to ask and pray with him....
Diodorus of Tarsus/Diodore of Tarsus taught in this a petitonary salvation: salvation by believing and asking God (Romans 10).Diodorus clearly taught that grace is received by belief and by asking/praying“Necessarily he set forth ‘those who call upon him.’ For God does not give grace without discernment, extending it even to...
