For every Christian, it is essential to grow in knowledge and insight continually in order to live the life God has called us to live while still in this world. While there are hundreds of Christian authors who’ve written books to help the believer understand the Bible better, few have been generous enough to provide free quality downloadable ebooks with no strings attached.

I’d like to share with you the three trusted scholars and two gospel-centered ministries that have made my shortlist.
R. C. Sproul
The first is the late R. C. Sproul. I have appreciated his teaching for more than twenty years. Ligonier.org offers an eBook series called Crucial Questions eBooks which were designed with the new believer in mind. Sproul answers questions like “Can I trust the Bible?”, “Can I Know God’s Will?”, “Can I Be Sure I’m Saved?”, among others. The website also provides online sermons, articles and devotionals which will satisfy your desire for learning more about all aspects of faith.
John Piper
The second is John Piper. Over the past decade, his books and videos have impacted my life powerfully. DesiringGod.org provides a number of free eBooks that will deepen your understanding of God’s Word. Below I’ve listed twenty of them. Each link will take you to a page where you have the option to download a pdf file. I encourage you to browse the website because there are other online resources that will enrich your spiritual life and give you a greater understanding of God’s Word. One of my favorites is the “Ask Pastor John” section where readers send in questions about topics that deal with everyday living.

Josh McDowell
The third is Josh McDowell. He provides resources that help the believer to learn how to explain their faith, which is essential for the spreading of the Gospel. I’ll include a few of his free ebooks below. Each link will take you directly to the pdf file which can be downloaded to your computer or phone. For free online devotionals and other resources for teens and adults be sure to visit Josh.org.

The Gospel Coalition
The fourth is The Gospel Coalition. This ministry focuses on spreading the Gospel, teaching biblical doctrine to believers and equipping Christians to engage with the world. Their website provides a series of fourteen free booklets that focus on the basics of the Christian faith and core doctrines that are important for every believer to understand. If you browse the Topics section you’ll find a gold mine of free online resources about theology, the Christian life, worldview & culture, and church & ministry.
The Verge Network
And the fifth is The Verge Network. This is a new favorite ministry of mine. I found out about them on Facebook. Their focus is on providing resources and training for Christians who seek to be influential in their communities in the name of Christ. On their website, they offer dozens of free eBooks in the “MyVerge Library” by authors like Francis Chan, A. W. Tozer, and David Platt. Titles include: Radically Following Jesus, The Pursuit of God and The 4 Marks of a True Disciple. You do have to become a member, but it’s free – and so very worth it!
There you have it! I hope you take advantage of these free resources. You’ll become a better disciple if you do.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV
