Will the rise of the self-proclaimed TikTok preachers out there, we need men and women committed to preaching God’s word with clarity, authority, and accuracy.

FREE Step by Step Message Writing Checklist

In this video, I begin by sharing a couple concerns I have about the current culture of young preachers that we need to address if we’re going to honor God and truly be usable by God. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’re seeing either in the comments on this post or on the YouTube video.

I then move on to highlighting 4 convictions that I have that shape my preaching that are taken out of a section of my book, Preaching with Authority - Calling, Character & Craft. (ebook) (Paperback)

The 4 Key Convictions Driving my preaching are:

    1. Biblical Accuracy

      • 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

    2. Helpful to People

      • 2 Timothy 4:2 NIV Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

    3. Carries Power

      • 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 NIV 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

    4. Calls People To Action

      • James 2:17 NIV In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

What does it mean to have childlike faith?

Yet when Jesus talked about childlike faith, he wasn’t asking us to be any of these things. He was inviting us into something pure, trusting, and real. This week, I got to help lead worship at a kids' camp. Watching the kids worship was such a beautiful reminder of what childlike faith truly looks like.
