Be Ready, No One Knows when Jesus Will Return - Christian Perspectives
In Mark 13, Jesus speaks about the end times. He mentions some of the things that need to happen before He will return again. They include many things that have been happening all along. That is why we must be ready for no one knows when Jesus will return.
No one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert! Mark 13:32-33
I like this scripture text because of what Jesus is telling us. “Nobody will know!” How many people have tried to predict when Jesus will come again? How many have repeatedly predicted the return of Christ only to be wrong each time?
Even the secular world was predicting the end will come in 12 years. (As I wrote the original post). I was hoping they would be right. That meant Jesus had to come within the 5 years to make room for the 7 years of tribulation.
Some Things Must Happen First
Let’s get back to Mark 13. Jesus said before His return some things would need to happen. He said, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. They including the following.
- False Messiahs
- Wars and rumors of wars
- Earthquakes in many parts of the world
- Famines
- Persecution
- Family squabbles
Something fascinating and unique occurs in verse 32 not written anywhere else in the Bible.
However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. Mark 13:32
As far as we know, this is the only secret the Father has from the Son. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the three in one. Yet this little piece of information is only held by one of them. Jesus gave all the clues He could give about things that need to happen first. But, at His follow-up verse.
And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert! Mark 13:33
Jesus Will Return, But No Body Knows When
I know people who are habitually late. They are so used to being late they treat it like they are on time. If they ever would arrive somewhere on time, they would claim they arrived early.
Here is the deal, with the return of Jesus, there is no “on time” or “late.” You are either in or out. It won’t do any good to look at your watch or check your calendar.
Because nobody knows the day or the hour. The bottom line is – we must be ready for no one knows when Jesus will return. He could call us home today!
Here is what Pau told the Thessalonian church. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
In 1 Corinthians 15 he told us that it will happen quickly.
Listen, and I will tell you a divine mystery: not all of us will die, but we will all be transformed. It will happen in an instant—in the twinkling of his eye. For when the last trumpet is sounded, the dead will come back to life. We will be indestructible and we will be transformed. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52
Lord, I am alert and ready, come quickly Lord Jesus!
