IGNORABLE?

Memorise: “For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him” ( Gen 26:14 )

Read: 2 Kings 6:13-14

Pastor E. Adeboye

As you go through the end of this year, never allow yourself to be discouraged. Be persistent. If Bartimaeus had not persisted in crying out loud to Jesus, he would have died a blind, poor beggar ( Mark 10:46-52 ). It is easy to maintain the status quo. But to change it, you must be prepared to damn the consequence and confront all odds. It is easy to go forward when there is nobody or place to fall back on. It is easy to press forward on a difficult assignment when you realize there is no helper like Jesus.

The problem that drove you to Jesus has brought you solution, because He is the ultimate Help. If Jesus cannot help you, you can be sure, no one else can. The good news however is that no matter your problem or challenge, He can help you because He has all power in Heaven and on earth with Him ( Matthew 28:18 ). The Lord will help you today.

Are you thinking of surrendering? Don’t. For a user of this Devotional, the Lord is about to turn your situation around through the next step. Take that step. Put in that effort again. It shall be well with you. For some people who are almost quitting, the next step may be the final effort that will usher in their breakthrough.

Even if it is not, that step is a step closer to success. Each time you make an effort, you move one step closer to final victory. If you quit, you would have wasted all past resources, time, energy, money, intellect, effort and prayers you have invested. Success is not necessarily the end result, but a combination of efforts and resources channeled towards that purpose.

Another lesson from today’s reading is that after the king of Syria was informed Elisha was his enemy, he had the options of ignoring or attacking him. He took to the latter option. God’s plan for you is that nobody will be able to ignore you in any area of life.

In Genesis 26:12-14 , Isaac became so great that a nation envied him. They could not ignore him. Also in Acts 9:36-42 , the death of Dorcas was rejected by all because she was someone who could not be ignored. She touched every life she had contact with. How are you impacting God’s Kingdom today?

Some believers die and people say they must live. But some others die and it is a relief. Are you lifting burdens from people or you are adding more? The choice is yours.

List 10 things you can do that will make no one to ignore you. Ask God for grace to do them.
