Memorise: “He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man” (Ps 18:48)

Read: Acts 12:5-11

Today’s reading says Peter was kept in prison. It is a horrible thing to be imprisoned, no matter how beautiful the prison looks. In some developed countries like America, there are television sets in their prisons, but that does not change it from being a prison! Prisons restrict your freedom in many ways. We organize services for inmates in Kirikiri Prison, Lagos, Nigeria and their choir sings, but none of its members sings beyond the prison wall. When it is about 4 pm or 5 pm, they are forced to go to bed whether they like it or not.

However, it is far worse to be a spiritual prisoner! It is terrible when the anointing of God is in you, but refuses to flow out. To recognize like Moses and Joseph that you are a child of destiny yet something prevents you from manifesting, can be very frustrating. When Peter was imprisoned, he could no longer lay hands on the lame and cause them to walk. His shadow was also imprisoned and therefore could no longer heal people on the streets (Acts 5:14-16).

He could not raise the dead like he raised Dorcas in Acts 9:36-42. His gifts of working of miracles and healings were now of no use. Are you caged or imprisoned by sinners? The Lord will set you free today in Jesus’ Name. Whatever is making God’s anointing on your life to be redundant shall be destroyed today.

A great socialite had a stroke and was taken to a hospital in London. He had lost his voice to the stroke and as we visited and prayed for him, he was trying to communicate with us with much difficulty because there was no voice. It took him about 30 minutes of frustration and sweating to pass the message that his wife who left on our arrival was coming back. His voice had held him prisoner!

In 1982, during Bible study, I talked about the imprisonment of Adam. He was a great man, who ruled Eden which according to Bible scholars was about the size of Lagos city. He must have been such a strong man to be able to control a place that big. He was a very intelligent man. He named all the birds and animals without going to school, because school was inside of him. Yet as a result of sin, his intelligence was caged. Samson the mighty man was caged when he sinned. In which areas are you caged? Are you dipping hands where you should not? Repent and return whatever you have stolen.

Every part of my life, family and destiny that is caged, Oh Lord, set free right now.
