Deliverance from lying spirit
Deliverance from lying spirit

Genesis 27:1-40
This is one of the epic stories in the Bible, where Rebekah sided Jacob (her younger son whom she loved) against Esau to deceitfully take the blessings of the latter. Isaac the husband of Rebekah had purposed in his heart to bless Esau.
But Rebekah and Jacob conspired to thwart this, using lies as a most effective weapon and tool.If you carefully read the chapter above, you will discover that Rebekah and her loved son-Jacob lied up to ten times to execute their deception.
There is hardly any human being that has not told a lie at one time or the other in his life. Hardly a day passes without the average man having to tell a lie for one reason or the other. I guess that is why we are human.
But is it possible to do without telling lies. Is it possible to hold on to the truth at all times even when it seems detrimental to our interest? Can human beings do without lying, when even Peter a close disciple of Jesus Christ, lied?
The first thing we need to realize is that lying is a deliberate act as see in the passage above. Moreover, once you start lying, you need to tell another and in fact several lies to cover up your previous lies.
Lastly, there are always adverse repercussions of every lie you tell, as Jacob eventually have to flee from his older brother who had planned to murder him in anger. Jacob could not come back to his father’s house until twenty years later, and by then his mother had died. So, Rebekah also did not live to benefit from the reward of her deception.
I believe it is possible to say the truth. I have come across a few individuals who to my amazement always say the truth at all times. I am praying to God to give me the grace to always hold to the truth at all times like these persons..
It is only the Holy Spirit that can give us power to overcome the spirit of lying. The Bible says that all liars shall not enter the kingdom of God. Let us pray today, that God through his spirit shall give us the power to overcome the lying spirit and say the truth at al times.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and have fallen short of your glory. I genuinely repent from all my sins, including that of lying.
I believe Jesus Christ as the Messiah who came to save me from all sins and I accept him as my Lord and Saviour. I pray for that the Holy Spirit should dwell in me from today to live in Holiness and in truth.. I am born again in Jesus name.
