Did You Know That God Hates Vain Thoughts? - Raising Zion

vain thoughts

How serious are you about your thought life? Do your thoughts matter to you? Your thinking matters to God. As believers, our thought life is a critical place of warfare. We may be able to look and sound perfect with how we speak and do, but the real battle is inside our minds and hearts.

The psalmist writes about his hatred for vain thoughts, but thy law do I love (Psalms 119:113)

God knows the thoughts of man are vanity (Psalms 94:11). (1 Corinthians 3:20). (Psalms 10:4).

How to overcome vain thoughts?

  1. Seek righteousness (Proverbs 12:5)
  2. Pursue holiness (Proverbs 15:26)
  3. Commit your works to God (Proverbs 16:3)
  4. Be diligent in worship (Proverbs 21:5)

What is vanity in the eyes of God? King Solomon said all is vanity. All that is of the world is vanity (1 John 2:15-17). God desires we hate vain thinking. When we love the world, we think vain thoughts (1 John 2:15-17).

Eve desired the fruit (Genesis 3:6). Her thoughts were against the word of God. Since the fall, the man continued to walk in sin. Their thoughts were sinful throughout (Genesis 6:5). Israel, God’s chosen too, was found in rebellion (Isaiah 65:2). When we think against the word of God, we sin. Jesus says if you think lustfully about a woman, you have already committed adultery in your heart (Matthew 5:28).

We must understand that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:7-9). How are His thoughts? God’s thoughts for us are good and precious (Psalms 139:17). Of peace and an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).

God’s word is necessary for our thoughts to become clean and holy (John 15:3). That is why meditating on the word of God day and night becomes essential (Psalms 1:1-3).

These days, hungrily desire to have the mind of Christ. (Philippians 2:1-11)

Jesus is coming soon. Praise God, and Amen!
