Do not be afraid to spread your wings
Isaiah 30:21:
"And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way, walk in it,' when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left."
Psalm 37:23-24:
"The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand."
You sit at your desk, staring at the computer screen, feeling a sense of gratitude for the job you have. It has allowed you to learn and grow in your career, providing a steady foundation. However, a restlessness lingers within you. You desire to spread your wings and reach new heights. The idea of trying something new or aiming for a higher position occupies your thoughts.
Yet, as you contemplate taking that leap, anxiety sets in. What if you make the wrong choice? What if spreading your wings results in a freefall, leaving you grounded and uncertain?
The what-ifs echo in your mind, questioning your capabilities and resilience. What if you are not ready for the responsibilities that come with a new opportunity? What if the risk outweighs the potential reward? The fear of the unknown and the possibility of stumbling become barriers, holding you back from embracing change.
Should you be simply content?
You contemplate the option of choosing contentment with your current situation.
The routines and tasks you are accustomed to provide a sense of comfort, making each workday more predictable. This familiarity can reduce stress and contribute to a stable work environment, promoting a sense of security.
Remaining in your current role also allows you to build strong relationships with colleagues and superiors. Over time, you become a known and reliable team member. This familiarity can lead to a supportive work atmosphere, where collaboration and cooperation thrive. Colleagues who understand your strengths and weaknesses contribute to a smoother workflow.
Moreover, choosing contentment in your current job often translates to a work-life balance. Without the pressure of constantly pushing for advancement, you may find more time and energy for personal pursuits and leisure.
However, amid all these advantages, will you be truly happy?
Should you spread your wings and pursue greater heights?
Choosing to spread your wings and reach greater heights in your career is a bold decision. However, you may be like a baby bird learning to fly – the first attempt may not be perfect. You might falter or make mistakes, but it is a crucial step towards growth. Just as the baby bird learns from each attempt, you too will gain valuable experience with every leap you take.
Yet, the journey may be challenging, and success may not come immediately. Like the mother bird guiding her fledgling, trust that God will lead you in your career journey. If it aligns with His will, you will find strength and resilience to flourish despite the hurdles. The challenges you face will become stepping stones, shaping you into a more capable and accomplished individual.
However, there might be instances where God's plan takes a different path. It is important to discern when to surrender and trust in His redirection. Just as the mother bird knows when to let go and allow her fledgling to find its way, you should recognize when to release control. Surrendering to God's plan may lead you to a better opportunity, one that aligns more closely with His purpose for you.
