Easy Meat Pie Recipe

Dough Recipe

Mix together dry ingredients for dough recipe:

3 (1/2) cups of all-purpose flour; 1 teaspoon salt; 1 teaspoon baking powder; 1 tablespoon sugar

Cube your butter (200g ~ 200ml cold butter) and add to the flour mixture and mix together using your fingers. Texture of the flour should change and become breadcrumb-like.

Crack and add 2 eggs to the center of the flour mixture and mix in with a fork, eventually using your hands to ensure dough forms nicely. Add about 1/2 cup of cold water (or as needed) until dough begins to form.

Cover your dough and place in the fridge for about 45 – 60mins at least.

Meat Filling

Fry onions until translucent. Add habanero peppers (if you like spice!) and allow to fry until soft.

Add meat filling of choice, in this case, turkey beef was used. Fry meat and allow o cook thoroughly (nobody wants any form of food poisoning!).

Prepare your veggies by washing and cubing your veggies including carrots and irish potatoes(sweet potatoes are my favorite type to add), which are commonly added to Nigerian meat pies.

Add water to cover up the meat and veggie mixture an allow to cook until half of the water content remains in the pot and the veggies are cooked but not too soft.

Add 2 tablespoons of flour to the mixture to thicken and stir well and allow to cook together. This prevents a flour after taste from being present in your meat pie.

Meat Pie Assembly: Roll Out That Dough!

Cut your dough into four equal sections and then divide each chunk into three more sections.

Use a rolling pin to roll and flatten your dough and using a circular plate/bowl to cut out shapes for your meat pie.

Scoop two tablespoons of meat filling on the center of the dough and cover over and use a fork to press down the edges to seal in your meat pie

Crack 1 egg and use it to glaze the meat pe and use fork to make three indentations on tope of meat pie to allow steam out and for meat pie to cook evenly inside.

Bake meat pie at 375 C in the oven for 40-45mins!

Voila! Easy, peasy Meat pie recipe. A yummy and delicious snack for the weekdays and maybe weekends too!

To celebrate ‘World Gratitude Day’ these are some of my favorite things; the ability to eat and enjoy food! What are some of your favorite foods??

An Inspired Challenge for Wives This Father's Day - Today Can Be Different

Consider asking your husband how you can pray for him each day. (If the father of your children doesn’t live with you, for whatever reason, remember to put him on your prayer list too.) Your husband wants nothing more than to succeed, but he probably struggles with issues he’s afraid to admit, even to himself. He may feel insecure about being a dad, especially if he didn’t have the benefit of a good role model. Or maybe he feels more like an understudy because he’s “only” a stepdad.
