Every Hour

Christianity

Especially in the dark ones.

Grief and pain and loss surround us, and it is not coincidence that the songs of my youth fill my heart and my spirit when I am seeking the Savior.  This sharing of pain, this heartache, is nothing compared to the grief of a parent that has lost a child.  A grandparent his granddaughter.  Or the spouse that has lost his beloved wife and mother of his four children.  And then there is the matriarch.  The one that has touched generations.

And even with the unanswered questions and the “why’s”:  “Why her?, why now?…

There is HOPE.

Our hope is not in our circumstances.  It never is.  It is in the TRUTH.  The truth of Scripture and the promises of another place where there is no more sorrow, no more crying, no more pain.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.  Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. For we say this to you by a revelation from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly have no advantage over those who have fallen asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will always be with the Lord.  Therefore encourage[l] one another with these words.  I Thessalonians 4: 13-18

But until then,

I Need Thee Every Hour”

I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford

I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby
Temptations lose their power
When Thou art nigh

I need thee, oh, I need thee, every hour I need Thee
I need thee, I need thee, I need Thee every hour

I need Thee every hour in joy or pain
Come quickly and abide or life is in vain
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee, every hour I need Thee
I need Thee, I need Thee, I need Thee every hour
I need Thee, I need Thee, I need Thee every hour

Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee
Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee
I need Thee every hour, teach me Thy will
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill need Thee, oh, I need Thee
Oh I need Thee every hour
I need Thee, I need Thee, I need Thee every hour
I need Thee, I need Thee, I need Thee every hour

Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee
