Ephesians 3:8-11 speaks about God’s purpose, including to make His wisdom known through the church in this age, and certainly much more through New Jerusalem. In this portion it is mentioned that God “created all things.” The universe was created as a realm in which God would accomplish New JerusalemHis purpose.

God is the One who had a purpose and who made a plan in eternity past and who created all things for the fulfillment of His plan. The Lamb is the One who redeemed us, the One who has accomplished a full redemption to fulfill God’s plan. Thus, the throne of God and of the Lamb denotes that this throne is to carry out God’s plan through Christ’s redemption. Both God’s plan and Christ’s redemption are being carried out through this throne.*

Although man fell away from God into sin and death, God cannot be defeated. He came in the man Jesus to be “the Lamb of God” (John 1:29) who takes away our sin. The God who planned and the Lamb who redeemed are on the throne accomplishing everything. This wonderful One flows His life to us to fulfill all that He desires in and through us.

The “throne of God and of the Lamb” (Rev. 22:1) is the center of New Jerusalem and should be our center. The city is the center of God’s accomplishments and of the new creation.
