Memorise: “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren” (Heb 2: 11)

Read: Hebrews 2:5-11

There are different perspectives as to why Jesus died. From the human angle, it was to take away our sins. From the perspective of the Father, it was because of the law of harvest. God the Father sent Him to die so that He could receive a predetermined harvest in both quality and quantity. The Father sowed everything so He also has the right to reap everything.

Hebrews 2:11 KJV - For both he that sanctifieth and they who are

Hebrews 2:10 says, “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings”. Who knows, God could have sowed Jesus because He did not want to be lonely, since angels are not His direct image or replica.

For instance, no matter how beautiful your dogs are, they can never communicate or fellowship with you like your children. God wanted to see creatures that look like Him and remind Him of Himself, so He sowed His best seed into earth and reaped His harvest.

Besides, there is another perspective – that of the Holy Spirit. Why did God the Holy Spirit actively cooperate in the death of Jesus Christ? The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ were best of partners according to Acts 10:38. They worked hand-in-hand all through the earthly ministry of Jesus. All His victories were by the power of the Spirit. He preached and converted many by the help of the Spirit. He was baptized and performed miracles by the Holy Spirit. He died and resurrected by the power of the Spirit.

Even His ascension was by the help of the Holy Spirit. If you have such a great partner , would you allow the fellow to die? With such an outstanding partnership they never quarrelled not even for once; yet when Jesus said He did not want to die, the Holy Spirit said ‘You have to go’. John 16:7 says as long as Christ remained, the Holy Spirit will not be free to fill all His disciples and followers. This means, the Holy Spirit appreciated His partnership with Jesus Christ very much, but He saw greater partnership possibilities between Himself and several little Jesus.

The Holy Spirit saw that He was in partnership with one Man – Jesus and longed to be in partnership with several men so that Jesus’ promise in John 14:12 can be fulfilled. That was why the Spirit consented to Christ’s death. Just imagine how beautiful it will be to have Holy Ghost services in every Nigerian city, every month pulling thousands of souls into God’s Kingdom. This shows one is good but more are better.

Thank God for His grace on your life. However, multiplying your good virtues in the lives of others is what He is waiting for. To what extent have you done this?

Any good thing in your life you fail to reproduce in the lives of others will end up in the grave like Elijah’s double portion anointing on Elisha!
