God Will Accomplish What He Plans

In Revelation 21:5 He who sits on the throne says “Behold, I make all things new.” In 21:6 God adds  “They have come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.”

On what ground could God say to John that it is done? He can say this because He is “the ¹Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” It often seems that God’s work has not been successful, but He says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega.” God made the original design, and God also will bring it to its final completion.

God spoke these things because He wants to tell us that He will bring His plan to fulfillment, He will reach His goal, and He will accomplish what He has begun.*

New JerusalemGod is infinitely wise and infinitely capable. Nothing can stop Him. He allowed Satan to rebel but the confusion and opposition this generated merely gives God more opportunity to exercise and manifest His wisdom. Whatever happens, God is the Omega, the End; what He says will come forth.

There will be a new creation with New Jerusalem as its center. God will bring it forth perfectly. Therefore we should praise Him with words like those of Romans 11:33, “O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and untraceable His ways!”

¹ Alpha and omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet.
