God’s New Testament Building (1)

Here we begin looking at New Testament verses which describe God’s New Testament building. New Jerusalem, as the consummation of this building, shares these characteristics. Several verses appear  in multiple posts and in some places I quote only a portion of a verse to emphasize the aspect presented in the heading above the verse.

Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone of God’s Building

Matthew 21:42, “Jesus [quoting Psalm 118:22] said to them, Have you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, this has become the head of the corner. This was from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’”?

Peter declares that this stone is Jesus Christ. “Jesus Christ the Nazarene…” (Acts 4:10)
Acts 4:11, “This is the stone which was considered as nothing by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.”

Peter announces this again: 1 Peter 2:7, “To you therefore who believe is the preciousness; but to the unbelieving, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, this has become the head of the corner.'”

God’s Building is in Resurrection Life

John 2:19-21, “Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then the Jews said, This temple was built in forty-six years, and You will raise it up in three days? But He spoke of the temple of His body.”

Acts 4:10-11, “Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified and whom God has raised from the dead…has become the head of the corner.”
