God’s People are His Dwelling Place

in Exodus 29:45 God promised “I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel, and I will be their God.” After many failures by Israel, God still promised with encouragement, “Give a ringing shout and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for now I am coming, and I will dwell in your midst, declares Jehovah” (Zech. 2:10).

New JerusalemIn both the Old and New Testaments, God likens His chosen people to a dwelling place for Himself (Exo. 29:45-46; Num. 5:3; Ezek. 43:7, 9; Psa. 68:18; 1 Cor. 3:16-17; 6:19; 2 Cor. 6:16; 1 Tim. 3:15). God’s dwelling place is for His rest in expression. In the New Jerusalem God will have the utmost rest in expression for eternity.*

Second Corinthians 6:16 is one of the verses listed above. It says “we are the temple of the living God, even as God said, ‘I will dwell among them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they will be My people.’”

We are the temple of the living God.” This is true today and will be much greater in magnitude with New Jerusalem as God’s and our eternal dwelling, rest, satisfaction, and expression.
